Mobile,
Alabama, is strategically located in southwest Alabama at the head of
the Mobile Bay, 31 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Mobile is centrally
located between Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, Dallas and Tampa, which
provide excellent access to these and other major markets. The Mobile
area is being recognized as a transportation hub for the region, linking
not only United States markets, but also providing superior access to
emerging markets in Central and South America. When it comes to
infrastructure and extensive transportation options, Mobile is unmatched
in the Southeast.

serving the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and the Gulf of Mexico. The port
handles a variety of cargos, including containers, forest products,
metals and bulk cargo. The Mobile ship channel has a maximum depth of 45
feet, able to handle most of the world’s ships and is only a few hours
from deep ocean waters.

The Mobile Container Terminal, a massive container dock
facility located due south of downtown Mobile, opened in 2008 and is
greatly boosting Mobile’s worldwide trading potential. The Theodore
Industrial Park and the Port of
Alabama’s Middle Bay Port are serviced by the Theodore Industrial Canal,
22 miles from the Gulf
of Mexico and have a maximum depth of 36 feet.
Mobile is served by Burlington Northern/Santa Fe, Norfolk-Southern,
Canadian National, Kansas City Southern and CSX Transportation. The Port
of Alabama Terminal Railway provides linkage between all railroads and
the Port of Alabama. CSX also serves the Theodore Industrial Park and
Middle Bay Port.
As a major manufacturing center and port city, Mobile offers competitive
trucking for shippers. Mobile is connected to the east and west coasts
by Interstate 10 and to the Midwest by Interstate 65. Interstate I-165
links greatly enhances access to the Port of Alabama and Mobile
Container Terminal. Major metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Charlotte,
Houston, Memphis, Nashville, Tampa, Jacksonville and Orlando are all
within a day’s drive.
