MBDA Business Center – Mobile Receives Grant to Expand Services to Area Companies Affected by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation received a $75,000 grant from The Community Foundation of South Alabama. The funds will help the MBDA Business Center – Mobile, operated by the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, expand services to businesses affected by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill by recruiting, training and coordinating local consultants who will coach businesses on sustainability practices. Health Occupations Career Fair
The ninth annual Health Occupations Career Fair will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday,
Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mobile Civic Center Expo Hall. As the signature project of the Bay Area Healthcare Coalition and Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Workforce Development, the event is open to high school students (grades 9, 10 and 11) interested in exploring healthcare professions. The Mobile Bay Area Veterans Day Commission will honor J. Lloyd “Doc” Abbot Jr., a
decorated retired rear admiral for the U.S. Navy, as Patriot of the Year, along with
Veteran of the Year Joe Birindelli, who is highly decorated for his service to the U.S.

Armed Forced Day Celebration Set for Tuesday, May 24
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Armed Forces Week with a noon luncheon, Tuesday, May 24 at the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell Center. The annual event pays tribute to the military including members of the Guard, Reserve and active duty personnel. Also recognized are outstanding ROTC, JROTC and NJROTC students. Read more...

ranked Mobile No. 10 among small cities with a population of 100,000 to 250,000 and
No. 5 in its promotion strategy, based on information submitted by the Mobile Area
