Machelle Leslie MBEC AlabamaRetuning home to Mobile after being gone 15 years, Machelle Leslie joined the Alabama Minority Business Enterprise Center (AL MBEC) staff as new business consultant.

Leslie relocated from Georgia where she and her husband owned and operated their own business, Atlanta Scooter Rentals. The center operates under the Mobile Area Chamber and helps minority-owned businesses throughout the state with growth and expansion, specifically to find lending sources, secure governmental contracts, get minority certification, bonding, and develop educational programming.

Leslie attended Bishop State Community College one year before winning the Eckerd Academic Scholarship to Stillman College in Tuscaloosa where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Leslie later attended The University of Alabama where she received the Roche scholarship and earned a master’s degree in journalism.

Darrell Randle, vice president of small business development for the Chamber, said, “I am impressed with Machelle’s educational background and communication skills. Her experience in owning and operating her own company gives Machelle an inside understanding of the AL MBEC clients.”

“Machelle is an incredible addition to our staff,” said Pamela Ramos, AL MBEC interim project director. “We will certainly benefit from the expertise she brings to her position.” “I was so proud to see my hometown make national news with all the economic growth and abundance of career opportunities, so I packed up and moved home,” said Leslie. “I’m looking forward to being a part of the history being made in Mobile and doing my part to make sure minority businesses are included every step of the way.” To learn more about the benefits of being an AL MBEC client, contact Leslie at 433-2250
