If you are willing to share your knowledge, expertise and experiences with others and wish to be considered as a business trainer for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce review the application process below. The small business department accepts proposals throughout the year.
Application Process: You may complete this On-Line form or download this printable form and email to drichards@mobilechamber.com.
About the Training Session (all bullet points are required)
- Topic/ Title of proposed presentation.
- A description of the presentation that could be used in marketing materials. (100 words)
- An outline of workshop content. (one page)
- Learning objectives including why/ how the topic is valuable to, and of immediate use to the small business community (identify target market if niche topic).
- Time needed for presentation, method of presentation, and equipment needs.
- Include a brief bio or resume that describes your qualifications as a subject matter expert and your training/ facilitation experience. (one page)
- Please include the names and telephone numbers of two (2) previous clients.
- Be a member in good standing with the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce.*
- Be an experienced trainer/ facilitator and subject matter expert in proposed topic.
- If requested, be prepared to deliver a brief (10-15 minute) presentation to the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Development Vice President and Director after the proposal has been reviewed for relevancy.
- Be committed to delivering the training session on the agreed upon date, and posted in the 2011 Training Calendar.
- Provide contact information for business references that have participated in your training session(s).
Speaker Benefits
Presenters are recognized in The Business View magazine monthly calendar (value $265), in The Business View Weekly electronic newsletter (value $90), regular postcard emails to membership as well as targeted audiences.
There is no compensation for conducting training seminars. You will be asked to allow the Small Business Department (SBD) to post your slides or handouts on the member only section of the chamber’s website. You will be recognized as the presenter.
Selection Process:
All proposals received will be reviewed by the SBD department staff and
selected as needed. The staff will determine if the topic is one that has been
deemed important to the small business community through formal and informal
surveys, individual requests, staff member visits, breaking news, etc. If you
have previously presented for the chamber you may or may not be asked to attend
an interview session. If you have not presented at a Mobile Area Chamber event,
and the SBD staff wishes to conduct an interview, you will be contacted to
schedule a short sample presentation.
Proposals may be submitted throughout the year, but are not guaranteed to be accepted for presentation at any time. Decisions will be made on an ongoing basis as the needs of the small business community are identified. Training events are scheduled at least 90 days out.
