Mobile Area Headlines:The Battle House Spa - Mobile Alabama

Alabama Public Television’s Capital Journal will spotlight the Mobile Container Terminal Grand Opening on Friday, Nov. 28 at 9:30 p.m. The show will feature the Terminal’s opening celebration and outline the amenities of the Terminal for the region.

Mobile Area Chamber members and their guests can now book a nine-day, seven-night trip to visit China, Oct. 13-21, 2009. The cost for the trip is only $1,899 per person (based on double occupancy), and includes roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles to China, all hotel costs (4-and 5-star hotels), all meals, ground transportation in China, tour guides and airport transfers. The only additional costs will be $150 per person for a visa to travel to China (which the Chamber will coordinate for you), $25 for tips paid in China; and airfare from Mobile to Los Angeles and back. An information session will be held on Monday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Hank Aaron Stadium’s technology center, and anyone wanting to learn more about the trip can attend. A representative from CitsLinc International will give an overview of the trip, answer any questions and offer advice about the trip. If you are considering this trip, please make plans to attend. If you are ready to go ahead and book the trip, a $500 per person deposit is required, and full payment will be due by June 1, 2009. This trip is already more than 1/3 sold, and only 180 can attend. Business@Breakfast will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Atlanta Bread Co., 3680 Dauphin St., from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. B@B offers members the opportunity to wake up for breakfast and start networking with 45 seconds to introduce themselves and their business. Following a brief Sonny's Bar-B-Que Mobile Alabamapresentation, introductions and breakfast, attendees are invited to continue to network. The cost is $8 and includes breakfast. The Mobile International Festival Family Day will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mobile Civic Center arena. The 25th annual Festival will host over 70 nations to present and showcase world cultures. The Spot of Tea announced the opening of Club Insanity on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The new club will open in the space of the former LeStrade Comedy Club and a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. . In addition, the restaurant announced it will open Weichman’s After 5 at 5 p.m. starting Wednesday, Nov. 26 for fine dining. The Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, will present Look Good…Feel Better from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4 in the J.L. Bedsole/Rotary Rehabilitation Hospital Dining Room. This is a free, community-based seminar, teaching female cancer patients beauty techniques to help them cope with appearance related side effects of treatment. Mercy Medical and the Eastern Shore Art Center have joined forces in Calling All Angels, a 2008 fund-raising project that celebrates angels, their stories and depictions in different art forms capturing what angels are and mean to us.
